sorry im new here and didnt know where to post this at,"I recently bought a dvd off someone and it was one of those taped in a theatre with a camcorder,my friend told me you can order movies on dvd from different countries that arent out here in the united states .can someone tell me where i would order these movies,cuz the one i bought wasnt even watchable.

even if you got dvds from other countries,
1. probably different language
2. you would have to reburn it to make it region free
3. (if your in the us), i believe most movies come out here first anyways.

I am from Brazil, and some Brazilian movies are made with subtitles in English and they are Area-0. Which means that it can be played in any DVD player.
But I have to admit that most good movies are released in the US.

So can you get in trouble for doing that or no?if i backed up a disk"burned"ripped"bootlegged" and say i got caught with a whole bunch of them in my car.would i face charges?

Here in Brazil it is legal to make backup copies of "stuff" you buy. Because in fact it is not the DVD or the CD you´re buying but the artistic work of somebody. So if your DVD get a scratch and won´t play anymore you can use your legal backup copy.

depends on where you live, if its in the U.S. then, if they are bootlegs or anyother illegal type of copy (you can keep ONE backup of something you own, but that it anymore then one is considered illegal :(

She is in fine shape, i took her picture off my sig so the spammers wouldn't watch for her.
Because they usually run away when they see me preparing her to be fired (which, now that i think about it, it isn't a bad to keep her picture posted.)

It is kind of hard to obtain a a movie that just came out on the big screen other than by someone with a camcorder because it has not been released on dvd by the film company.

@ iburndvds: the law has been that way for as long as i can remember, back when vhs first came out, i think. i'm only 17 and i'm sure we have more "experienced" members here that can provide better information. but anyway, that's just the law. that's all one needs. it's a compromise between big business (no backups at all, say them) and those who want to make backup after backup (often-times for sale, which makes many of use look bad). that's just part of life.

I only buy retail. Then I backup the main movie only and put the original up in a safe place. By safe place I mean where none of my 3 children can get to it. This way they can play frisbee with the copy if they want to.
