I have just completed my first conversion from avi to Mpeg, however after 7 hours converting the mpeg that plays on pc is jumpy and unwatchable although the audio is fine .... any suggestions? I set it to 25 frames per second and used TMPGenc.

this can sometimes happen if you have motion search on estimate or anything lower than highest quality. you can also try putting dc component precision to 10. i have also noticed that sometimes the 2 pass variable bitrate method of encoding may cause the video to jump if your using your computer while its encoding or if the length of the video is short.
