I have a friend who has an NEC 1300a, it came with his Emachine 3265. I have tried burning a cheap brand media with shrink and Nero but says illegal media or something along those lines. I also have an Emachine but mine is a 3256 with a NEC 2510a dual layer burer and have burned cheap media with it once so far, had used a pioneer 106 before on the old computer always had great luck with it. Anyway, my NEC worked fine but his won't accept the media, I believe the media is Matrix made by longten. Any ideas?

I have this burner. Whilst it is possible to keep trying different media until you find something suitable, I would just go to the NEC web site and look at the recommended media list here:

good point, I have the 1300a and only use decent media for the cheap stuff I have tried never works or degrades within months...

TDK and Verbatim are really good and not so expensive at 20p per disc...
