Shrek is 100 minutes long. I'll guess the high quality movie size is ~5GB. Did you strip out unnecessary languages and menu VOBs?

I did Shrek, r1, used DVD decrypter to strip main movie then IFOedit to srtip languages and foreign language title angles.

Hi mackin.

I also did exactly what ali777 did. (DVD Decrypter for *main* movie only) from disc #1 of the Region 1 Shrek, then stripped out subs and kept only 1 english track with ifo-edit, but the thing was still just a hair over D5 status.

How'd you manage it?

Hi Mike,

I used disc 2 which is the widescreen version. Ripped main movie with DVD Decrypter. (I didn't take the TS.IFo)

A couple of the VOBs contain foreign language stuff. If you load up the main IFO file you can preview them by double clicking on the entries under PGC. (ch1)(Pg1)(Cell 01) etc..
Then you can figure out which VOBS to lose. I can't remember which it was for me , I think I kept 1 & 3 and lost 2, but don't quote me.

Open the main IFO File and press VOB Extras. Tick, strip streams, strip Vob ID's, correct vob units, correct original IFo and create new IFO. Then tick remove angle point. Set your destination DIr as something different from the original and hit go. It will strip all the file and create new VTS 01 IFO and TS Video IFo etc..

Then open up the new TS Video IFO and remove regions, and hit get vts sectors.
You should then have a film at about 3.88g

I may have forgotton something, but if you play around with these new files and make sure you strip all the extra language stuff, it will fit easily

Hope this helps
Mackin

Macin, I'm glad I found you! :)

I have a different problem, and I'll take a risk by slipping it in here (real quick). I really hope you can answer this one.

I have some simple, dvd-legal mpg files (m1v and mp2 files). The m1v files are, simple, mpeg1 vcd-compliant files (res=352x240) which is also legal dvd. The associated audio .mp2 files are 48000 Hz sampling -- also dvd-legal. I created them with tmpgenc. The combined (a/v) files play back perfectly on my computer. (Very smooth, and with no a/v discrepencies). I split them apart (for dvd authoring) with tmpgenc's 'simple demultiplex' tool.

Question: How to author them to dvd?

I already did it (poorly). I used ifoedit's 'author new dvd' tab. You add the video and audio files, and basically, ifoedit does the rest, creating all the .vob, .bup and .ifo files as necessary. I then did the 'get vts sectors' thing to correct the ifo files. The resulting, burned dvd *did* play back on my standalone.

But the video motion is jerky, jerky, jerky, and the a/v sync is *way* off. (On the computer, it was not). Also, do you think it's true that Derrow has not yet implemented the ability to use more than just *one* video file at a time? (You can fit a *whack* of vcd-like files onto a single dvd). When I click-on the little button "Add Title", a message pops up saying that that feature is not yet available. (You can, presumably, only use the one video title).

Sorry this is in the wrong post section, but Mackin won't get an email reminder if I put it in the other section.

(Right section actually, but wrong thread).

Thnx.

Hi Mike,

not really up on DVD authoring mate, but if I was to do it, I would master the files with DVDMaestro and see if that gives smoother results. I have never used IFOEdit for anything other than stripping bits out of DVD's
