brought a music cd that is copy protect but can't play on the pc and would to convert to mp3 as backup...any software to do this?

holding down the shift key upon inserting the CD disables the autoplay function. protected CDs often install small pieces of software that will not allow the PC to play or rip CDs. If holding down the shift key doesn't help, then your CD has a different kind of protection. check out this guide:

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:
