Nu-tech ddw-081 firmware problems and no CD-R capability

Hello all. I have 2 problems
1) I upgraded my ddw-081 to firmware bx362. I gained some dvd-r capability. At least I could burn one out of 5 Dvd-R media I tried.(woopie do) I than tried all the other firmware upgrades on the Nu-Tech website and none of those firmware's will give me any dvd-R capability. I should say that I LOSE dvd-R capability when installing any other firmware upgrade on the nu-tech website. ONLY bX362 gives me dvd-r capability.
2) I now have no cd-r capability at all. Nero and 2 other cd burners I use cannot detect any cd-R media installed in the burner. I origanlly burned 12 cd-roms from a stack of media and they worked fine at 32x burn speed. All of a sudden Nero cannot even detect cd-r in the drive, from the same stack of media! HA cd burner also cannot detect CD-R media now.
ANy advice would be appreciated. I have written many times to Nu-Tech and never received an answer.
