I buy the DVDPro discs from Meritline. They are only about a $1.00 a piece with shipping when you buy a spindle of 100. They only burn at 1X speed but other then that they are no different from more expensive media.

OK, not a problem. How fast do you want to burn?2X, 1X or 4X? Do you have the money to burn?
Memorex 2X rated is Primo

I use the DVDPro disks from Meritline, and have put the cracked firmware in my pioneer 104 writer which will allow me to select 2x on any disk. I write to the DVDPro disks at 2x and play them no problem at all in my stand alone player.

Personally I burn Datawrite with my pioneer under 1.31 firmware. It is best disc for standalone. Honestly i have great problem with Bulqpaq 2x Gen4. I have thrown 19 out of 25 disk:( and bought from Bigpockets.

Datawrite didnt give any problem with pioneer burner or in the Standalone to play.
