I downloaded new file ASUSUPDT60201.ZIP . ASUS Update V6.02.01 Installation Program for Windows 95/98/ME/NT40/2000/XP/2003..and then install. so I run this program which is called Asusupdate. This program is for updating your bois via the internet.so program runs It opens It connects to the asus web site I get message Select BIOS version it shows 2
K8N 1004-02 BETA [26 11 2004 ]
K8N 1003 Final [03 11 2004 } **** I choose this one *****
then I press next it downloads a file
then I get message
BIOS image format is complete you can press <flash> button to update BIOS rom
I press Flash
I Then get a status bar shows
Erases rom 100%
Flashes rom 100%
verifys rom 100%
Then get message Need to reboot system for changes to take effect.
I reboot
Then I get message
Auto detecting Drives goes through all of the drives then says ok
then says
CMOS checksum bad
Press F1 to run setup
Press F2 to load defalt values and continue
If I press F1 it takes me into the bois screen
If I press F2 it starts up windows.
with no bios change still has original BIOS version # 08.00.09 <10 04 04 >
I also tried the alt F2 method using a floppy.I get all the way to the end goes through all of the steps erases flashes and verifys all 100% then the system restarts and I get same error
CMOS checksum bad
Press F1 to run setup
Press F2 to load defalt values and continue
still no bios change
any help would be appreeciated.

Hey
Try loading the default settings in CMOS or try changing back all the CMOS settings that have changed.

you tried online flash & tried flash by floppy which means either the flash program is not working right or you have a problem with the bios chip itself. if possible try an older flash program from asus to see if works or not

ok now I have a real intresting question my bios says bios 08.00.09 <10 04 04 >
I run dxdiag it says BIOS: BIOS Date: 10/04/04 14:10:12 Ver: 08.00.09 then I check system information it is telling me bios version date 1003.009 <10 04 2004> my question is what am I truley runing for a bios and is this the reason I get cmos checksum bad error.

i think newer flash didn't take properly as reason forold date & checksum error. try reflash your bios to original than go in steps up to last update to see if correct problem

yes I did! and what I found out from Asus was that if the bois version you are currentley running and the bios version you are trying to update to are the same this is the error that you will recieve.<CMOS checksum bad >
also if you are trying to update your bios using the ASUSupdate through windows make sure you are using the newest version Asusupdt60201.zip . if not make sure you uninstall the older version before updating they "conflict with each other". they way to tell what bios revision you are using is to go to programs, accessories, system tools, system information. this will tell you what your BIOS version/date is.also if you are using asus pcprobe then open it go to information tab dmi explore and this also has all of this information there as well.hope this helps.
