Hack takes my nec 3500 read speed from 16X to 18X.

Increases my read speed to 18X.
Increased the write speed of a Memorex 8X dvd-r(Ritek G 05) from 8X to 16X.
Of course at theses speeds Iran into writing and reading errors, power calibration errors after upgrade from ver 2.18.

There are two beta versions, 4 and 6. Beta 6 gave me a max write speed of 12X but seemed less stable . My advise is to go with the Beta 4 ver.
