NEC 3500A not recognizing Ritek DVD+R DL

I was wondering if anyone can help me i have an NEC 3500A Dual layer burner and when either using dvd shrink and DVD Cloner II to burn a DVD9 i keep getting a message that the disc i am planning to burn is not an DVD+R DL. I just bought a 5pack of ritek DL disc? Would anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks for your help! :)

i forgot to mention my NEC3500a burner is and external one (on an external enclosure)connected via USB 2.
