ok here is the deal... i bought this dvd burner a while back around 6 months... i dont use it much because it frustrates me... some programs dont even recognize it, but i use nero it recognizes it but most of the time i cant use it to burn dvd's... it burns cd's but i got a cd burner... most of the time i get this damn error message...

ok i have the most current firmware for the dvd burner... i have an older p3 500mhz with 512 ram... now here is where it gets tricky... ive had this puter for a while now and really am gonna get a new one soon but for the time being here is the deal, when i was having problems with my computer not recognizing my second hard drive a friend of mine fixed the problem by installing a silicon SiI 0680 ATA/133 controller which is where my dvd burner is the master and the second hard drive is the slave... it does not give me the option of enableing the dma but in the properties in device manager the current transfer mode is ultra dma mode 2... my dvd burner works ocassionally but between times when my dvd burner works and when it doesnt seems completly arbitrary to me because i do no major changes to hardware or software settings in my computer.... it just works sometimes... and most of the time it does not... can not burn any type of dvd w/o getting that scsi abort error....
and my device manager screen looks as follows..
1. Intel pci bus master ide controller

3. secondary ide channel
