Ok I have a problem, I know a kid who's only 16 years old and he pirates dvd's and games I told him that it's against the law but he doesn't think there's any consequences for minors who do this. So I went online to see and I got to say I couldn't find anything, I know there's a 250,000 dollar fine and five years for adults who do this. But what about minors? If there are no consequences for kids who rent dvds or games and keep the copies they make, then I wish I was still that young. But I really don't want him to get in trouble, so any help will be appreciated.
Question: Not to be rude, but if you really don't want him to get in trouble, why mention it on a forum asking about the consequences? Piracy is wrong regardless of how you look at it, but unfortunately it's a part of every day life. And with the internet making it so much easier to have access to pirated material, it's going to being an ongoing problem for a long time to come.
And just to be a bum about it... you only get in trouble if you get caught. As long as he isn't selling anything that he finds for personal profit or just being a general blabbermouth about it,then the chances of him getting into any problems with the law are pretty slim.
