I tried to update the computer to SP2 but it failed like 3 times then the 4th time it went thru with the Download. When the system restart it would hang and then rest. Now I get bootdisk failer and windows can't access the drive. The POST can see the drive but windows can't. I tried to use disk managment (can't see drive) and I tried to repartition the drive with the XP CD but it just says can't access drive. If I try and reinstall from the CD it just tells me that I have to wait for win xp to finish installing to drive B4 I can access the drive. Anyone have any clue as to how I can get this drive working again?

yes the POST sees the drive but when anything that is run by windows tries to access the drive it can't because the SP2 install was never completed nor can it be.
can't repartition with cd or thru computer managment
can't reinstall until winxp sp2 install is complete
can't boot because of bootdisk error
yeah I'm pretty screwed and have tried most everything I know to get around it.

like I said in the 1st post anything that would involve windows will not let me access the drive (reinstall, reformatting, repartitioning ect....). I don't care for saving anything I just want a usable drive.

Just a reminder that Fdisk will not touch NTFS partitions! You need Delpart.
Very frustrating, what has happened to you...
I have slipstreamed my WinXP installation disk with SP2.
This is how M*crosoft recommends OS be installed, with the SP2 integrated into the installation CD.
Go to: http://www.tomshardware.com/howto/20040908/index.html for information about this simple process.
Sounds like you are going to need to reinstall anyway, to beat this problem...
(Once you get new OS running, make sure to immunize IE6 with Spybot S&D right away, before going out on the 'net :-)
