i need a good dvd rom drive

that can read very scratched dvds

doesnt matter what kind it is

Thats not something that really gets tested. Most folks are more concerned with the speed. There is, as far as I know, no ROM that does better than another. A scratched disc either will work or not work. A JLMS-166 works well for me, speed wise.

A scratched disc is actually missing data from the suface of the disc so as long as laser is staying on track then your rippping program may have a chance to re-read the sector. Decrypter does this pretty well.
