Well, after about 250 or so movies being burned, and countless data written, my Sony DRU-500A has finally crashed. I am now looking for a really good dual-format writer. My Sony had a 8mb buffer. What is the minimum Buffer size I should get with the amount of movies I burn? Im really not real fimilar with what the buffer actually does but I do know it is important. Can someone please also let me know exactly what the buffer does. Is it basicaly the memory built into the dvd drive where it stores data about to be written? Thank you.

Yep, a buffer is where the data gets stored for writing. Most PCs don't have a problem keeping a buffer filled during the process. Check out the new Plextor:

Note the 8mb buffer.
