Hi All -

I've been doing all of my burning on 16x media as of lately. I understand how at the 4.0GB zone it kicks into hyper-mode burning at the full 16x, but I was wondering if there is any updates to remove zone burning.

Now, the underlying questions are as follows. First off, is there a firmware update or anything else that does this for the Pioneer A08? Second, if so, does this absolutely fry the laser? I'd hate to kill my drive off; I love it too much.

Reason why I'm asking this is why did I buy a 16x DVD Burner and 16x media when it only uses it's full potential on the last ~.7gb of data that is being burned? Let me know - thanks in advance!
