I have been using X-Copy Gold (primarily the Express portion) version 3.0.4 upgraded from 3.0.2, for the past year with no problem copying 150 movies. The program suddenly now will read but won't write. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program but to no avail. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is? Thank you, Hankt5

The only thing I can think of is have you de-fragged & disc cleaned up lately?
I do it most nights & have had no probs with my X-copy products.

It still won't write the movie. It doesn't recognize the medium. I even tried various brands even though I have have had good luck with various brands. It will read but the option to tell me that it sees the blank disc and do I want it to write immediately after reading doesn't appear. When the reading is finished, it is greyed out and won't function. As an experiment, I burned a music CD so know that the burner is OK. It has to be a problem with the program.

hank,

just because it will burn a cd doesn't necessarily mean the dvd portion of the burner is functioning. mine did everything BUT burn a dvd. i took it back got a new one, and perfect burns.

just a thought, it could be a hardware issue.
good luck.

i had the same problem but like the other guy it was a bad burner. Are you using a new burner? I made the mistake of picking up a cheep ( BTC ) at Fry's what a mistake. took it back and bought a Sony 710A and without doing one thing to my programs was up and burning again.

To really test your dvd writer, I would suggest trying a DVD Decrypter pass at it. Take one of your recent backups and have DVD Decrypter read and write it in ISO mode. If this fails, I would think that a DVD Writer upgrade is warranted. If you've been using it extensively, it would seem a good idea to have a backup on hand in any case.
