ok, i downloaded peerguardian. i installed it and ran the program. it starts to load the ips and later states that it successfully did so. my quesiton is: is it blocking (or protecting) while the program is running? how does it work? do i only have to turn it on when im using a p2p application or should i leave it on all the time?

its entirely upto you how you use it it does block alot of pop ups also

it has a database of an awful lot of ip's from a wide varient of sources that if one of the 'banned' ips trys to access your pc for what ever reason it bans it from coming in thru your udp tcp ports etc etc....

after you have installed it
find your shortcut to it, it would be on your desktop or in the place you installed it most likely in program files on your main HD, make a shortcut if you do not already have one

double click on it, it will open and load the ip address's it has to be blocked then it will start blocking all by its self and keep the list of everything it has stopped from contacting your pc

make sure you keep the list upto date also

alright. the program is up and running and it has blocked a few IPs since. i guess i didnt believe it was really blocking anything until i actually saw the first IP block.
and its nice how it also blocks spyware and other non-spyware privacy violators. at first i thought the program was made to block only those who are out to get ya, lol.
