i figured that now i can only burne dvd video dvds... with Nero too.. but its weird cuz i dindt had this problem like 1 month ago. i was thinking that it might be something with the service pack2 im curentrly using Nero burninr rom 6.6.0.8 the latest one.. and some how i managed to make one data dvd in udf mode with Nero but not all of the video files avis worked just 4 of 5..
but now it doesnt even work in udf mode.. so wtf?... do we need a new firmware or what? next thing im gona try to see if it works on my friends laptop this weekend.. ill thell you how it go.. thanks. hope someone finds an andwer soon.. cant keep fking up more dvd-rs and btw im using sony 4x dvdrs and i could burne data like a month ago.. in this ones.. so this started to happend like 2 weeks ago.. thanks..
I have a Gateway 7422GX with a TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532A burner. This morning I burnt 2 Imation DVD-Rs perfectly with more than 4.2gb of data (video and audio files).
This same afternoon I burned another set of directories and it was "successful" according to Nero 6.6.0.5, exactly the same as in the morning. Nevertheless, once I inserted the recently burned DVD again the drive kept its light on indefinitely, and in the Explorer it appeared as empty. Removed it, took it to another PC and it also appeared as empty. Tried burning another DVD-R ... same result. The surfaces of both DVDs appear written.
Scared, I burned the same set to a DVD+RW and it came out perfectly readable. Haven't tried burning another DVD-R again till I get a clue of what can be happening. All the DVD-Rs belong to the same set and the recording conditions in the morning were exactly the same as in the afternoon.
ok tryed it on my friends laptop so now i know that its the damn sd-r6372 drive.. so i guess it must have been the firmware update , i sent an email to thoshiba drive support and they told me that im having conflicts with my IDE drivers but that doesnt make any sence cuz it didnt even work on my friends computer so anyways i did the update from intel my chipset and the IDE drivers too with no such luck another two dvdrs to the trash...
i had anuff of this crappy burner i think im gona get a pc next time... well i hope some one finds out wtf is happening cuz the damn toshiba assholes dont have a fkn clue...
Well if your getting a new DVD Burner I would get the NEC 3520A. I bought two of them from NEWEGG.com about 3 months ago and absolutely loved em both. NECs got my vote for now on when it comes to burners. The burner costs about $55 after shipping.
Blank DVD's are caused by only one thing and that is your software did not write the track at the correct position with your recorder. This is caused by outdated firmware for your drive.
