I'm kinda a newbie to pc and gaming quality ones and was wondering if this would be any good for games like doom 3,half-life 2, final fantasy 11.

*Pentium 4 550 Processor
*3.4GHz Clock-speed
*800Mhz Front Side BUS
*1024Kb Cache
*WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION
*1024MB DDR RAM
*400Gb Serial ATA Hard Disk (7200 rpm)
*Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD-RW + DVD ROM
*TV Card & Remote Control
*256MB Ati X600 Graphics

And this costs $1,779 but i live in England so it'll cost me £950.

Or there is a cheaper one

*Intel Pentium 4 Processor 550
*3.4GHz Clock Speed
*800MHz Front Side Bus
*1MB Cache
*Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
*512MB DDR RAM
*250Gb Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200rpm)
*Multiformat Dual Layer DVD-RW Drive
*256MB NVIDIA GE FORCE 6600 Graphics
*Built-in Digital TV Tuner

that one is £680 which is about id say $1,500
or there is one more which is the dearest

*Pentium 4 570
*3.8Ghz clock speed
*1024 DDR ram
*500gb hard drive
*256mb Ati radeon x700 pro

This ones costs £1,350 which is about $2,500 but i cnt really afford to get this one but if you guys reckon this would be the best one im sure i could sell some stuff to buy it anyway if somebody could just give me some advice i would appreciate it
thanks.

Well each one of those looks good, but for a more cost effective gaming system i'd go for the second one. It doesn't take much to run FFXI, but Half Life 2 and Doom 3, to run it to it's fullest you'll need one hell of a system. Like the last one listed

im not sure what motherboard it is, does it matter that much, also not sure what ram your talking about.
but i was thinking of going with the second one since its pretty cheap so then i'll just save some more money then upgrade the memory and get a new graphics card.

The RAM is the Memory, so you'll have to find out what kind it is before you upgrade it. I'm assuming it's going to be PC3200. The motherboard is kind of important if you know what you want in a computer, but if you just going to upgrade minor things like RAM and Vid card the you don't really need to worry about it. Just make sure you get compatible components when you upgrade =P

how would i know what components are compatible with what, plus i see another pc today which looked good for the price, this is it

*Amd athlon 64 3400+
*512mb ddr ram
*200gb hard drive
*16x duel layer DVDRw
*Nvidia geforce Fx 5200 128mb graphics

this costs £499 but the only thing putting me off is the video card, beacuse i don't know if thats really gaming quality for games like half-life 2 and sims 2
and the other thing putting me is that its made by tiny. But i was just thinking of getting it then upgrading the ram to 1gb and maybe the video card if that ones not any good.
