dvd burner doesn't even let the computer turn on

I installed the drive and the software that came with it and it worked fine. Then after a few days when I tried to open the tray it would open halfway, pause, open all the way, pause and then close. That went on for about 2 days. Then my computer wouldn't work at all. My computer would only work again after I unhooked the drive. Thinking maybe it was the power supply I tried unhooking the other cd drive and the floppy drive and leaving just the dvd drive hooked up, but it didn't work. I also tried using different plugs to plus it in. Anybody have any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance for your help :)

Sounds like you have probs with your drive. Do you have another to try?
