Ok.
I've heard that copying a DVD with DVDXCopy takes only an hour. Is this true? It's a real pain sometimes copying a dvd when it takes 3-4 hours with ifoedit and all that. So an honest reply please from someone who has actually used the software.
Thanks

Yes, this is true!
It takes about an hour, sometimes a little more depending on the speed of your computer, and the length of the movie. I do Quality Assurance at 321 Studios, and I use the software every day.

I gave it a go but didn't think that much of it
Ver 1.1
It adds a warning to the beginning and disc two doesn't start the film straight away, but throws up the menu again (these issue may have been resolved in later releases)
It seems a lot of money for something that is quite straight forward to do manually.
Now if it re-encoded the movies bigger than 4.3GB using a variable bit rate and clever jiggery pokery like CCE then we'd be talking, unfortunately what we'd be talking is very expensive :lol

In Version 1.2x, the 2nd disk does start right away, if you want it to. It gives you the option for both disks to start with the movie, or with the Menu screen. It also allows you to omit the menus and save that space in the copy.

Yes, and no..
Yes, you can do that, but with some disks/situations, the main movie files of the DVD may be over the 4.7 gig limit. In this case, it would need to be split across 2 DVD disks.

Lets say they do add a version in the future with the possibility to re-encode a lower bit rate. Would those that have the current version be able to upgrade free, or would it be a different package you have to buy seperate?

Yea, it's $99.99.
You can get a copy at www.dvdxcopy.com
I doubt that there will be a version anytime soon that will encode the files and then burn them to a DVD. The whole reason for the software is to allow you to keep the original quality and options of the DVD. Re-encoding the video would make the quality of the audio and video less than the original. It would also add hours onto the time that it takes to copy a DVD using DVDXCopy.

Given that CCE which seems to be the only decent re-encoder is $2000 I can't see it being affordable to add it to DVD X Copy.
There may also me legal ramifications
