"First Play" in MCE2005

Having burnt a hundred or so DVD backups with help from all the afterdawn members and solved every problem todate here's another:

After editing the 'First Play' command (as i have done on every backup) media center refuses to read the DVD properly, and simply stops upon loading the disc resulting in a black screen.

In order to start the movie, i have to click stop, followed by 'go to Title Menu' which then brings up the proper Title menu as usual.

The same problem occurs with media player. The first play is ignored (it would seem) and the DVD stops before its even started.

Naturally ive tried many backups all resulting in the same problem. They all play fine w/ Power DVD and my set top DVD players.

And if the first play command is untouched, the DVD plays fine (wonderful FBI warnings et al).

Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated. This is not going down well with the wife. Media centers WAF is plummeting :(
