What are the basic softwares people use anyways? I see so many people using so many things!

Don't beat me, but for a straight dvd backup I actually use DVD X Copy :( It has worked liked a charm for me 100% of the time thus far, but is this the best thing to be using?

What is the FASTEST way to take a .mpg file (which originally was from a VCD, just an extracted .dat) and burn it to a dvd back up? I can merge and stuff (if one file is BETTER than 2 or 3), but i dunno...

Any idea's?

Everyone has ther favorites so it varys, I personally use shrink and decrypter.

Im not familiar with mpg files but you can try TMPGEnc to do what you need to do.

For a direct DVD Backup, DVDxCopy has been working, so I will indeed take your advice and don't change it... lol

For my other situation... I have been merging my .dat files (rename to mpg) and then using WinAVI to create the dvd structure and burn with Nero...

God loves me, in a very odd way :)

How about instead of posting in DVD-R for advanced users you try searching this.

There are a bunch of thread on which is the best backup software. And just from reading, you'll see which ones are the most popular.
