I've used dvdx copy and dvd shrink 3.2 and i'm having the same problem with both now .I used to never have this prob. Used to be able to use either one and copy in just under an hour,any suggestions what is causing it? DVD-Rom is a Sony DDU-1621,I even updated the firmware hoping that would fix it.Just puzzled!!!

I don't know specifically what your problem might be, but I also had that Sony unit and had problems with it. I returned it and exchanged it for a Pioneer. Don't know if this helps :(

Check the transfer mode on your DVD. It should be on DMA not PIO. Use the device manager, select the secondary IDE channel, right click on properties and select the Advanced Settings tab. When you have read errors the transfer mode is slowed to PIO.
This is not really an advanced question. Advanced users check all the forums so you do not need to post here to get answers. If is not the problem let us know.

thats the prob Says ultra DMA if available
Second line says current trans mode PIO

You may be able to change it right there or you may have to uninstall your DVD, re-install and reboot several times. Recheck DMA.
