Hi, I've been looking recently at getting a TFT, I have a 19inch CRT and it's takes up half of my office! I've been looking at the 19" ViewSonic VX910 £259 from savastore . com , the ACER AL1914MS 19" TFT 12ms £242.97 on ebuyer and the 190S5FS 19" TFT Silver 12ms Monitor £254.96 savastore again. All have 12ms reponse times, I gather this would be good for games although I don't pretent to know what difference it actually makes... Would I be able to play Doom 3 with these type of response times, Does anyone have any good ideas/advice?

You mean pop along to a shop!-god forbid! Only joking seems a good idea, I'd want them to test something quick on them though...

cheers, yep I remember using that before, that white box bouncing would probably do it, it blurs on this monitor! Do you know how to get the sound working in doom3 by any chance? I've got a gigabyte intel 875p mobo with built on 5.1 sound and i'm using realtek'97 all set up seems correct but there is no sound whatsoever...

For what it's worth I run dual LCDs - an Acer 19" AL1912 and an Acer 17" AL1714. I love gaming and have used both of them for it with great results. The colors are outstanding and both have a 16ms response time so ghosting hasn't been an issue. I'm not what you'd call an expert on displays but as a gamer I couldn't be happier with these two. Doom 3 Half Life 2 and every other game I've played on them have looked spectacular :)

Thank you for that, that's very useful info. So 16ms is fine for games, I was looking for a 12ms but perhaps I can look at 16ms as well now. Is there much difference using the 17 to the 19, as I've just jumped from 15inch crt to a 19 and there's loads of difference...

Personally I was amazed at the difference between the 17" and 19". If I had to do it over I'd have gone for two 19"'s but the way things worked out I ended up with the 17" first then added the 19".

Well that's enough for me, I'll think I'll go for the 19inch Phillips I first said about it seems a good investment for a little over £250... Thanks for your input.
