Replacing the slave hard drive.

I am replacing my slave hard drive (20GB - about 60% full) with a 160GB Western Digital - my master hard is 40GB.
What is the best way of moving the data from the old slave to the new - can I back up this drive on DVDs and then transfer it back to the new drive or is there a better way?
Running Windows XP S2 with P 4 2.4 and 1GB of Ram.
Any help would be appreciate before I try this.

You could back all ur stuff on to dvds but thats the long way, wat i would do is stick the 160gb in as the master and then you could transfer the data from ur 20 to the 160gb then stck ur 40gb back in as the master

Just another thought, could I have 3 drives in the computer?
How would I wire this? The IDE cable only has connections for 2.
Does this require more power?

you can have 4 ide drives, hd & rom drives before getting a pci ide controller card. could use notron ghost to copy info from 1 drive to another. it appears you only have 1 40pin cable so need a 2nd one for ide2 board connector. if ide1 cable is 40 wire than use that on ide2 connector & get a 80 wire cable for ide1. 80 wire still uses 40pins but has more grounds for preventing crosstalk
