Hi, i followed the guide on doom.net to split a dvd to 2 dvd-r's with ifoedit. Movie i'm trying to backup is Star Wars Attack Of The Clones (R2). I followed the guide, but disc 1 will not play. Disc 2 is no problem, but when i try to play disc 1 in ifoedit it just says "DVD Warning: An illegal navigation command was encountered".
The movie has 2 angles, could that be a problem?
Anyone here who can help me out?

Hi Rik, thx for replying. I split the dvd according the guide on doom.net. I opened VTS_01_0.ifo (this contains the main movie) in ifoedit and then select vob extra's -> split to 2 DVD-R's.
In the meanwhile i have found where the problem is. Ifoedit split the movie to dirs disc1 and disc2. In the new vts_01_0.ifo it creates for disc 1 there are missing the info for the PGC's. Only PGC1 is completed, the other PGC's are all blank (the values are all set to zero).
In the new vts_01_0.ifo in disc2 these values are all present, so disc2 plays correct.
Anyone any idea how to solve this?

Or Rik, maybe you can post the way you have done a good split on the movie?

here you go:

Insert your dvd movie in your dvd drive

Fire up Powerdvd, let it play for a few seconds, then close it down

Open up dvd decrypter, press CTRL + A to select all the movie files, then rip it to your hard drive, this may take a while.

Once it has ripped all the files close dvd decrypter down

On my copy of EP2 the total is size is 6.31GB, pal version

Fire up ifoedit, I am using version 0.95

Select open

Open video_TS.ifo from where you ripped the movie to

This will tell you how many chapters it has etc etc

Select open again and load up vts_01_0.ifo

In this window it tells you what vob id`s to use, in this case it is 1,2,3, it also has 3 audio channels

Click on vob extras

PUT A TICK IN THESE ONLY:

Strip stream`s
Strip VodID`s
Correct vob-unit (nav packs) pointers in VOB-files
Correct original ifo files
Create new ifo files (movie only)
Split 2 dvd-r`s
Remove p-uops
Remove macrovision
Adjust vob-unit pointers
Adjust audio/subp point
Vob size=1GB

Select your destination dir and your 2nd dir

Click on ok

In the new window labelled Stream list

Only keep the 0 audio 1: English dolby ac-3 6ch 48kbps drc normal id 0x80

Click strip it

On the next screen only select the vob id`s you want, in this case it is 1,2,3, click strip it

Ifoedit will go and do its stuff, go and a cup of tea or coffee and come back later, may take a while depending on your pc

Once it has completed, close down ifoedit, reopen ifoedit and select the video_ts from where you just saved the movie to from ifoedit

Click on get vts sectors

That how I did mine, works a treat

All done, burn it.

On my copy I did, nero would not burn it due to the content not being correct, if this happens to you, reopen ifoedit and select create ifo`s.

Rik, thx for the tutorial.
I see that you just put the main movie onto 2 dvd-r's. My problem was that i wanted to have the extra's and all also on the backup. And that's where the problem is, because the values in the PGC's all set to zero, except for PGC1 which contains the movie. I allready found a solution to work around this. I've put the extra's on dvd2, because the ifo files created by ifoedit for dvd2 are correct, the ifo files for dvd1 not.
