I have tried to decrypt Ray with decrypter and shrink and I still can't do it. Any suggestions. I can't read VTS1 vob 4. I am getting an I/O error. The copyright protection is Css/Cppm.

I ripped Ray with latest decryptor and then re-authored and burnt with shrink with no problem.

The Ray version which is comprised of one disc only presented problems in playing the original and backing it up. After returning it to BB and exchanging for the two disc version, no problems. Possibly a bad pressing on the one disc version.

Like I said, I tried everything listed in every combo I could come up with. Each is the latest and greatest version. I'm copying for my brother so his kids won't scratch up orginals. Just out of ideas.....

Rotary,
In VTS_01_4.VOB I was getting a track error with Decryptor. I just went to decryptor and copied JUST VTS_01_4.VOB with NO ERRORS. Strange. I Know what files are the main movie. I wonder if I can copy them one at a time to a folder then run them through Shrink. Then burn with Nero. BTW thanks for the help....

Hi hogan,
Have you tried ripping with any other drives? Once in awhile if my DVD burner fails I use my DVD Rom. It must just read better than the burner.

I/O Errors are NOT bugs!!!! (well, not 99.99999% of the time anyway)
An I/O Error is my way of displaying a problem your drive had with the disc or your system config (mainly a disc problem though).
Unrecovered read errors, Seek errors, Servo errors, Focusing errors, ECC errors, CIRC Unrecovered errors etc. are all your drives way of saying "I don't like this disc".
Clean the disc, update your drives firmware (http://www.rpc1.org), try it in another drive, get another copy.
Note: If you're burning a disc in ISO Write mode and get an error, it's pointless trying another disc from the same pack / spindle. You need to find some different discs, with a different dye type and try those instead.

I can't find out what kind dvd rom drive I have. It just shows up as "ide dvd rom 16x" in Nero. Firmware vs> 2.50. Guess I need to look inside. Too late to do that tonight. I'll dot that in the morning.

hi
use this tool from my site to check firmware!
http://www.hairobics.fsworld.co.uk/firmware.zip
also your dma? is it ok?
You might also like to read this Microsoft Knowledge Base Article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=817472
Important:
Windows XP will often get confused and report that a drive IS running in DMA mode when in reality, it's not. To fix this, Uninstall the IDE/ATA Controller (NOT the Channels!!!) from under the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers branch (again in Device Manager) and reboot your PC. Windows will 'find' it again when it boots back up. DMA will be enabled by default.
You should also check that DMA is enabled and active within the system BIOS screen. That's the screen you access by pressing DEL, F2 etc when the machine first boots up. You normally have to enable it for each device connected to the IDE bus - it's not a single setting to enable / disable it.
Setting it to 'Auto' is the best bet - rather than DMA 5, 4... 1, PIO 4, 3...1 etc.

Rotary,
I'm ok on DMA, have checked that. I downloaded your program. It tells me the same thing Nero tools does. IDE DVD 16x rom Firmware VS. 2.50. But not who made the drive so I can update. I will look at the drive tomorrow to see the manufacturer. Getting late (or early) here, 4:30 a.m. I do thank you for all your help and will get back to this thread tomorrow.
Thanks a ton, Hogan

I have a feeling this is a dumb question, but here it goes anyway. In the instructions by BBMAYO showing how to do the new movies, under instruction #7 it refers to the file we created earlier. How did "we" create that file?
