? i currently have been using dvd/burner for over 1 year to back-up my movies. Adverts in Sunday paper are for "dual-layer burner" I have been able to copy full dvd no problem what is difference?

if i understand your question correctly. dual layer burning is basically the ability to burn a DVD 9 dvd as is without compression. unlike a DVD 5 which is a unmodified dvd or a DVD 9 compressed.

but the burners are pretty cheap for what they can do.

Try and get a burner that does at least DVD-R and DVD+R at burn speeds of at least 12X.

DL Burn ability is also good for down the road.

Remember how expensive even DVD-5 media was a little over a year ago, about the same as DL media today.
