I just replaced my dvd rom and dvd burner drives and when I looked at the old ones they were cable select and a frined of mine told me to make the burner the master and the rom the slave but he didnt know why he just heard that is the way to do it... Am I losing performance by not have it set up this way it is talking 15-22 mins to rip on sony 16x drive... Help please.

those times are right on when ripping a dvd 9 that is copy protected.
