theres narrowband and broadband:

narrowband is 14.4K, 28.8K, 56K, etc. - dialup

broadband is 128K, 256K, 512K, 768K, 1024K, etc. - DSL/Cable

get DSL in my opinion. its cheaper and sometimes faster than cable.

it all depends on the company you can get broadban from. Like where I live DSL is the fastest and cable is the worst but in the next town over from mine cable is better than DSL so you have to do some research

i pay $69 a month for 512 down 128 up.
Totally unlimited. For the month of feb i tried giving it a thrashing and got about 75 gig up/down using ADSL.

iWOULD SUGGEST CABLE AS A BETTER alternative as its much more flexible and fibre optics well a mate has it and he reckons his min is 300kbps and his max is 1000kbps but imagine how much i could get with that kind of speed (i'd be in heaven)
