Nero Burning Stopped Working

I have a very new Toshiba Laptop and a farely new Sony DRX 710UL. I use it to back up my work files regularly and Nero Burning stopped doing this anywhere from 8 to 23% through. The drive indicates that it is still burning but Nero has locked up.

I have updated to the most current firmware, updated Nero, unloaded all the other burning software on the computer and I am at my wits end. The really bad part is that I went out and bought the new Sony drive to fix the same problem I had on an older, yet adequate DVD burner and ran into the same situation: The Nero software stops working after awhile.

I have seen the same problem on many other posts, tried all their solutions to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated.

With respect, harklar you claim to have seen so many answers that didn't solve your problem.
Why not make the members here privy to them?

In order that they may think of an alternative?

Fair enough. Attempts to wit:

1. Tried different media after the burner stopped burning to R/W and -R.

2. Updated to Nero 6.6.08

3. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Sony Drive

4. Updated the Sony Drive Firmware to the most recent version.

5. Checked the "allow drive to record cd audio" and then promptly unchecked it after it didn't work.

6. Reinstalled Nero Burning ROM.
