Why is it that you suggest to use AnyDVD along with DVDShrink?

because AnyDVD is the best ripper on the market(in my opinion)

dvd shrink cannot handle some of the latest encryptions

I like and use
DVD Decrypter to rip to hard drive
DVD Shrink to compress/encode
Nero Recode2 to compress/encode&burn
I have been using Recode2 more often lately as it is a little faster than Shrink.I have not needed AnyDVD as of yet but hear it works well.
I also use Taiyo Yuden's with my Plextor burner they will cost you more but to me they are worth it.

I agree 100%. I even paid for the full version and I swore I wouldn't pay for any more DVD software after X Copy.

I prefer anydvd/dvd shrink/and Nero 6.0 and above.

They do the job on about 95% of my backups.

It's always nice having a backup program like DVD Decrypter to do the damaged and problematic encryptions.

There are many different combinations for all these programs.

I rip to hard drive using DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running in the background.
Dvd shrink then automatically pulls out Nero to burn.I have near perfect copies and have yet to watch any of my originals in the last 5 months.High quality backups for 0 $$$$$.

I just used up my 2nd free trial of AnyDVD,so I will have to re-download the 21 day free trial again next week, lol.

Good Luck

My preference is AnyDVD with Nero Recode using Taiyo Yuden discs. Total back up time at 8x is usually 15 - 20 mins.

I prefer Xcopy, but AnyDVD works well, and you can get [REMOVED]. its easier just to download it from there instead of the trial version.

If you liked AnyDVD, why don't you just purchase it?

Hey sunup, I just get rid of it through control panel/add-remove programs.Wait a week or so and download it if I run into a problematic encryption.

I've been having some hardware issues with my pc-new motherboard on its way. That's why I have been holding off from buying it.Well worth the $$$

Keep em burning!!!

i will second saugmon on the process, i do exactly the same thing and don't have any problems at all.

AnyDVD is one program that everyone that touches DVDs should purchase. $40 is pocket change considering the headaches it will save you when a new encryption comes out.

I've got to agree with most of the posts here.. AnyDVD is a must and then its a combination of either Shrink/Decryptor and sometimes Nero if I want to burn at a later time.

I've been backing up my DVD's for quite a while, but I just recently came into a movie that I could not do at all! So, I downloaded AnyDVD, but I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do.

Do I just put the DVD in, open AnyDVD and while I have it open (in the background) use DVDShrink the way I normally do?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

FETNU: Just open up AnyDVD,and the small fox icon should pop up on your lower tray next to the clock. When it is down there,it should be working. DVD Shrink should slide right through.

Thanks a lot, I'll give it a try! Up to this point, NOTHING has worked. I'm trying to backup "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle." I'll let you know if it works.

Shrink and Nero worked on that one for me, I can't remember if I had AnyDVD running in the background back then. Good Luck

I like to rip to my hdd with either dvd decryptor or DVD Shrink (to remove unwanted languages and subpictures) set at no compression, with any dvd running in the background then edit out any trailors or previews with dvd remake leaving a functional menu then encode with either DVD Shrink or dvd copy 3 (much faster than shrink with same quality) then finally burn with Nero.

If you're looking for the best results the answer would be RB/CCE although I personally don't use it but the big boys will agree. It is far superior for high compresion levels.
