Let's say I can get my GC to read media from any ohm setting from 160 to 260, would a higher value or a lower value make the lifespan of the laser longer?

More resistance(ohm) = less power = longer lifespan
Less resistance = more power = shorter lifespan

that what was set in the factory=)

but best Ohm value, would be good if someone would calculate how many percent have to change that, that most medias will work.

The future is not set. Theres no fate but that which we make for ourselves.

I'd say the best Ohm value is the default if it works for your media, god only knows how raising the resistance of that potentiometer is going to affect the longevity of your gamecube, and like someone else mentioned, the motors that spin the discs and move the laser will probably burn out a while before your laser does, so don't worry about it

You can't Say..

The Black cubes I modded were All under 190 Ohms
some of the Purple Cubes I modded were over 350 OHMS

Both Cubes more than 2 Years old, Both of them Still
work Perfectly. I think the laser will perish long after anothet part of the Cube Perishes (the Spuindle,
Fan, things like that.) I wouldn't Worry

I have Tweaked My Playstation 1 lens and that piece of machinery is now over 10 years old (the first model). Still works.

Greetings

why have you tweaked psx lens?, there's no need of that, except for fun=)
