Im trying to plan for a computer build and Im wondering (how to save money without losing fps) which CPU will best suit me for a "budget" gaming rig. That is, How do I match a good Amd64 processor (Im leaning to socket 939 so far) with the right combination of ram---> and save money all the while (AMD 64 FX is out of the question:(

that fps also concerns the video card in a big way so what card do you have or going to have as the 939 type board doesn't have agp slots

I would go with the socket 939 and dual channel memory,Asus makes a nice board that has a AGP slot if you don't have a PCI card

Most motherboard manufactuers usually have a list of compatable memory on there web sites.

Eq, check out this website, I used it for reference when building my current Gaming Rig. Of course, my next Rig will be liquid cooled and have an FX53 or FX55 AMD 64 processor; but, you did mention "budget" right??

Thanks, Wild, that is a cool website. Here is a pretty fair list of socket 939 mobo's for you, Eq:

Wild, I do like newegg's prices and turnaround/delivery. ... one of my favorite websites to buy electronics/computer parts. My logitech z680 5.1 speakers were cheaper at Amazon. ... other than that, newegg rules on great prices.
