I still haven't seen a video card that has component inputs for recording. Even the new Radeon XT card only has component output. To record HD streams there's not way I want to record through S-Video. Any suggestions?

consumer cards aren't going to see good quality video recording in/out for a few years. Your only choice for that kind of quality is going with pro cards, like a Targa card, which is (only) a few grand

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:
