it depends on your burner, your burner has to support pi/pif testing
Kprobe is a program for Liteon burners only
Nero CD/DVD Speed is a good one to use for other burners
you must use a burner for testing though, a DVD-ROM drive will NOT work
what kind of burner do you have?

You're right jim... It would take a real idiot to counterfeit CMC. LOL Not too many people want the real thing when they realize the quality. CMC has just about singlehandedly ruined Memorex's rep.

Stay away from CMC all-together.
I use DVD Identifier to find the manufacturer info.
I have had no problems with Verbatim (MCC) and/or
Fujifilm (made in japan)-(YUDEN)
Possunt Quia Posse Videntur.

Yuden also manufactures for Verbatim. Both Fuji and Verbatim have sold or currently sell Ricohjpn coded media, which is another very good media. Unfortunately, Verbatim has started selling some CMC media as well.

Verbatim became infamous by switching from high-quality MCC to ultra-cheap CMC (CMC Magnetics) media, although they have since returned to using MCC.

Thank you.

Verbatim never stopped selling MCC, that is the house brand. Also, CMC is still part of the offerings from Verbatim. I wouldn't call the CMC ultra cheap, I reserve that for the real stinkers, some without names. However, CMC is not on the same level as MCC, Ricoh, Tiayo Yuden, Ritek and the like. And Ritek has been looking a bit shaky lately. Ritek-Ridata is now selling Ritek for the +R which was Ricoh before and they've been changing dyes. All in all, it has left some customers unhappy.
