new burner wont see copies...

I have recently installed a new micor-advantage dual layer dvd burner into my system. Up until now i have not encountered one problem i havent been able to solve. the burner is recognized by windows and can copy an original dvd but will not even see or recognize a copied dvd-r. I would like to keep this drive because I picked it up for so cheap. Any ideas on what can be casuing this...byt the way i am using the same apps i always use..dvdcloner 2 and anydvd.... I have also tried using dvd decryptor but to no avail.

The copied dvd-r were made by this drive and play fine in a standalone dvd player?

ok let me clear things up abit...sorry if it didnt make sense....

i just swapped out an old hi-val 8x dvd-r drive. I now have a new micro-advantage 16x dual layer dvd-r drive. iverything worked fine with the old unit.there is no complaint there. Now onto the new drive...it will not see a burned copy made on my previous burner but it will copy original dvd with no problem. when i insert a burned copy windows explorer sees the dvd-r as a cd and does not display any of its contents....
