I have used nero and myrecorder to burn 6 videos on a vcd and in nero it reaches 3% and then gets stuck and i have to end task nero and that still wont stop my computer from messing up half the time. ALso i have the sony 500UL but it says in my device manager its the sony 500A (internal version) anyone have suggestions to fix any of my problems , oh yeah, my burner burns everything else just fine.

for nero, try updating it to the newest version. Nero might not like your burner. For your device manager, try and find a update for your burner.

Hi, I had a similar problem with Nero stopping at 6%. I have the latest Nero. In my case it was a problem relating Hi-speed CD/RW's. I was making SVCD's, and for a change decided to use my R/W's to write to. My blanks were meant to burn at x4, x8, or x10. Because of the audio sync problems you MAY get when burning SVCD's at greater that x4 (don't ask me why!) I decided to burn them at x4. Whenever I got to 6% the burn always stopped with a disc error. Assumed it was a disc problem, however I later tried burning at x10 and had no problems. I haven't a clue why they wouldn't burn at x4, but at least it fixed it, luckily I had no audio sync problems either.

I know this might not be anything to do with your snag, I only replied just in case you happen to be using Hi-Speed CD/RW's with Nero. Good luck.

I had the same problem, stopping at 3%(this is where the lead in is done and the actual file starts burning). It ended up that I needed to change to a slower speed and better quality of blank cd's. I was using memorex cdrw...

Also , this gets overlooked by many users , have a look at your system and whats running in the background by hitting ctrl + alt + del , only systray , explorer , and nero should be running , anything else should be told too endtask . If your one of those with an onboard sound chip , it may have a tray icon other than the little yellow speaker , it you have this , it is garanteed too stuff you about , as I suffered the same problem , burning stopped , but when I endtasked the icon for the soundcard , the burner completed the job without screwing it up .

i had the exact same problem only mine did this at 5%. i went through and ended all things running in the background which made no differenc. then however i switched to higher quality cd's and also write at a slower speed and they burn correctly. i was using memorex now i use tdk. my writer is a tdk 48x but i have to use 24x or slower to get it to burn correctly. no idea why. i used to own a tdk 24x and never had a single problem hence the reason i purchased the 48x when it came out. dont know why this happens but slow your speed and it will complete

My problem is that nero wont' let me select the burning speed less then 8x

My burner supports it, because it burns CD-RWs at that. The disc says it supports it because it says 1x-48x on the disc (it's a Mitsumi BTW, I don't know if that's good quality)

I'm making a VCD and a lot of the picture has pixilation problems when played on the DVD player, since the guide on this site says to burn slow at 4x, I'm thinking maybe this is the problem. But hey, who knows.
