I am looking for help, i recently messed up my DVD drive and my cd burner is a slow piece of crap, so i was thinking a combo drive, CDRW+ 16x DVD is what ive found. My question is are combo drive better than seperate drives? What would be a nice combo drive with a CDRW and DVD ROM?

Check out the link for a cheap one i found..

Hey andre112,

I would say go with the combo drive.

It is alot better AND sometimes alot cheaper to go than seperates.

Like for me, I have a external DVD multi drive. Burns everything!

And it only cost me $125, but that is because it is external.

But go for it, it looks like a nice drive...if you want another place to go, you can check out:

They are really good!

Hope this helps and happy burning!

;)

go with seperate drives if have the room in your case as can use the dvd drive to play & read cds & dvds whereas use the cd burner for burning cds. if got the money than get a dvd drive & a dvd writer as the dvd writer burns both cd & dvd disks & the dvd drive reads cd & dvd disks with less wear & tear on the burner

Andre, you can see the pro's and con's for having one drive versus having 2 drives. I have two for the same reasons that DDP has two in all my desktops (I have plenty of room) and the cost of a cd/dvd rom is only 20-25 bucks. The burners can go 55 bucks up to 150. Of course, my laptops just have one drive that does it all (due to space limitations). good luck and let us know what you decide.

Not a noob question...lol!

But, and this is just my opinion, use the new combo drive, I don't think it matters, since it is the same thing. However, thats me.
