need v551 USB modem driver for 98

Hello, i installed PHT 3.11 and my computer still looks for the driver for v551 and can't find it.
Iam using Windows 98.

i have the same problem upgraded to 3.19 , attemped to configure my phone in win98 and all drivers supplyed with phonetools will not load. same program works fine with xp and the v551
|

u need drivers for Win98Se and am not sure where u can find it, but i remember its somewhere in this motorola forum....

well I was told the latest drivers were it 3.21 so I upgraded . the computer sees the v551 but not one driver in the list will allow the computer to operate the phone . apparently the driver for win98se is not in mpt 3.21 ,any ideas anyone??? also the config only sees com 1 and 2 . I've read mpt likes 3,4

well soon in this thread am going to post the drivers that suits for Win98Se,WinMe and WinXp, and hope that will help. about the com u can change it to 3 or 4

Can you please send me the Windows 98 driver for v551?
Is there a way to do live update from Mobile Phone Tools 3.11 to 3.23? I only found UPDATE which takes me to the site to purchase the product.

Well mossyy , thanks for the files but the program still does not reconize the phone. Begining to think its a com port problem . the program only sees 1& 2.
On my computer with xp the modem for the phone is on com port 4. Need to figure out what port the phone is trying to use in 98se.

well then plug ur fone and go to control panel>modem and check on which com is it and i think u can change to 4 or 4 from there.....

Well the saga continues, the v551 refuses to operate on com ports 1 & 2 .My computer modem is on 3.I went into system info and watch as I plug in the phone and it looks to load on com port 4 . the software for mpt does not reconize the phone on 4 so does not load the driver . It only sees com 1,2,& 3 .Not 4 . I can't figure out how to make mpt see com port 4 . any ideas anyone?also the device manager will not load the phone on 4 where it wants to live . It also only sees 1&2.I even tried to remove the built in modem and just install the phone to no avail.

i guess u have to start from zero, delete everything that belongs to motorola, MPT or P2Kman, and go to the safe mode delete ur drivers from there, and install everything again, start with the drivers, then use the P2Kman to c if u r connected, and if it show that u r connected install MPT 1.23 then update it with 2.21 and check if it works, if its not update it to 3.23, and let me know what will happen,,,,,,

Well I finally figured it out . I have not been able to use my v551 with mpt and win98se until just now . I tried to install a new driver (p2k)with no luck . The driver would install but in modem properties There was no com port assigned to the usb modem. I finally went into safe mode and went to device manager . selected the usb hub for the modem and updated the driver there(p2k). I restarted the computer and there it was on com port 4 . I then ran mpt and went to setup . Then changed the modem to the usb modem and wam bam thank you mam. it works . Thanks Mossyy

Well ... I have the same issue, but rather than a bring up a new thread I was hoping I could bump this back up (hope nobody minds) :o/
I have WIN98SE
I have V551
I have mobile phone tools version 3.11h
I have Dpmod9x.inf (USB modem file)
I have Dpusb9x.inf (not sure exactly)
I was able to install the Dpmod9x.inf driver. However, it connects the USB modem to either COM PORT 1 or 2 only. I believe this may be my problem, because I hear that MPT wants the USB modem to be connected to PORT 3 or 4 (but I am not sure). Anyhow, I cannot for the life of me get my phone to talk to my PC. Can anyone suggest some steps I may want to try to get it to work?? Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. All I want to do is upload an MP3 to my phone for a ring.

Ok guys here we go.
The best version would be 3.23 although 3.11 will do.
After it try to connect fone or stay at initialize for ever, hit cancle then there should be a picture of a fone pop up on your dest top ( if you are at initialize, you got that pics already).
Treat it like real fone for now. Lick on the menu icon, there should be a drop down-->setup--> F6 general setup-->comunication--> modem exchange-->choose from list--> Now on your left look for Motorola GSM ( if you have CDMA fone then look for motorola CDMA) on your right look for you fone model. Selected then finish you r done it should work now. Good luck

The only problem is if the driver is installed on com 1 or 2 the method you discribed will not work (been there done that) When I installed the driver as discribed in my earlier post only then would mpt connect to the modem on com 3
