Hi all. I would like to join a movie download site (24/7) and get myself some good flicks through p2p. Once I download a movie from the site can I then burn it legally to disc so I can watch it in my stand alone? I guess what i'm getting at is i've always heard that you can have burnt movies in your possesion as long as you have the original. Not sure on how this works. Is this downloading from a pay site safe. Is it illegal, I am in canada. If soneone with knoledge on this could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Don't really wanna submit my credit card info to the site if it is gonna get me into a heap of trouble........Thanks ahead of Time
Cheers :)

Hey wowzers,

It would be better to go with a p2p client, instead of joining some site, there are LOTS of them out there, and if you are interested in using torrent clients, there are some EXCELLENT guides here on aD.

You sure can! It all depends on what file format the movie you download is in.

Not entirely true...in a way. Look around the Filesharing forum and you will see what they are talking about. But you can use your own, or, ahem, use "rented" dvd's and burn those.

Some programs of suggestion are:
DVD Decrypter
AnyDVD
DVD Shrink

Very easy to do. You just need the right programs.

Why pay...if you can get it for free, and alot of them are fraudulent sites, but there are few that you can pay for!

Another person from Canada asked the same question a couple of days ago about using bit torrent clients.

Here is the link:

I don't know, from what I heard p2p clients are legal in Canada. But if you are REALLY concerned, you will have to check the laws there.

Like I said before...why pay, if you can get it for free!

Hope this helps!

Well that's definately a good thing!

Yeah...I mean, I personally wouldn't even go near sites that advertising paying for movies, when you can get them for free elsewhere...you just got to know where to look! ;)

Yep, there are a SLEW of them you can use. As far as the ones to stay away from, I don't know of any. But seeing as though I just started using Bit Tornado just this past week, you are in luck, because I have some GREAT sites that you can get too, all without registration so you don't have to supply an email addy.

Here they are listed below:

The first one is the client:

http://www.bittornado.com/download.html

Now you don't necessarily have to use this, so it is entirely up to you.

Here are some sites with .torrent files:

http://www.fulldls.com
http://btefnet.net
http://www.thepiratebay.org/frame.html

and this one not only has .torrent sites, but it even has a real time updater:
