PS2 cuts out the sound to any other scart equipment

I have a slimline PS2 which is connected to a passive 2 way scart adapter along with my sky box. This 2 way scart adapter then goes into the only scart socket on my TV. But, the PS2 cuts the sound out on the sky box. I also tried taking the sky box scart out and running my DVD scart into the 2 way scart adapter in its' place, and the sound was gone on the DVD. When I diss the power to the PS2, the sound comes back in. Anyone know why or best way round it?
