I am having problems with my computer freezing for about 30 second intervals intermittently. At times, I have to power it off and then back on.

Specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
MSI 6330 Mobo
512 RAM (2 x 128, 1 x 256) PC133 SDRam
80GB 7200 RPM WD HD (Primary)
120GB 7200 RPM WD HD (Secondary)
PNY GeForce 4 5700 LE Optima 128 MB
2 back fans, 1 side fan, 1 front fan, 1 top fan
350 Watt Power Supply

The fans are spinning fine, heat is normal, heat sink replaced about 2 months ago.

I have Norton Internet Security and it hasn?t found any viruses. Also, I ran the Trend Micro virus scan to be sure. I use Spybot Search and Destroy and Aluria to scan for spyware and none is detected. I ran SiSoft Sandra Pro 2004 and it didn?t find any problem either. Also, I thought it may have been a bad XP Install, so I reformatted my hard drive and with a fresh install of windows, it is still a problem. Prior to reinstalling windows, I only had SP1, now I have SP2 as well.

Thanks in advance.

How many Watts should I get?

I have:
2 Hard drives
2 CD Drives
6 PCI cards
1 AGP Video Card

Also, the fans have lights and there are lights on the front of my case?

Regular power supply or modular?

get a 450 to 500 watt psu as according to this link you need a minimum of 342 watts not including about 30% powersurge on startup which is about 445 watts http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/Power_Supply_Calculator.php?cmd=AMD

how old is the hd? it could be on the way out because ive had freezing happen 3 times so far and each time after a couple of months the hd failed.

or prehaps you have a program running you dont know about? not necesarily spyware. check your task manager and close everything non essential and see if you still get the freezes.

My 80 GB hard drive is about 6 months old. The 120 GB (secondary) is about 1 year old, but only used for the last 3 months.

I have gone into MSCONFIG and disabled everything but Trillian (messaging program), Aluria and Norton Internet Security.
