I'm not using dialup. I'm using cable and my connection got tested as excellent. I can usually download other things at about 1Mb/s, sometimes close to 2.

maybe it's the FTP site of the host your trying to download from.
Try IE and if it does the same then it is the host.

Works great. I even dumped my temporary files and pages still blaze up, (good for people that like to keep their temporary folder clean), thanks, GeeStar ; )

This is for GEESTAR
Thanks for the tip on speeding up FireFox. I was wondering, if the max requests pipeline was set to say 1000, wouldnt this be better than 30? I guess im just wondering, why 30? Thanks mate.

Amazing! Bloody ell Geestar pure brilliance. My browser is now fast as f;@k even when I'm downloading torrents, pages come up in milliseconds. I also got firetune but didn't really notice the difference after Geestars tweaks.
Yeah could it be made even faster??????
By changing a few numbers?
This tweak makes your browser ultra quick a must for all FireFox users!

i actually used 1000, 4000, 100 and other various numbers and it seems 30 is the magic number.

Hello Mr Geestar20,
Regarding the string one has to type in after 'altering' the other 3 lines...should I type the " marks at each end of your line?
Sorry for the delay, only just had the time to peruse the site @ leisure. Rush, rush, rush...seems to have had very positive feedback from peeps!
Kind regards,
Pete.

does this tips work even if u dloading stuff ???
when im dloading my bowser is always slow !!! i know that the dload program use most of my speed !
and what about the "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" !
mine was on 4 ! going up ,mean going faster or less is faster ???
::: Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. :::

hi, i'm not a pro in these kinda stuff but a while ago i read in a dutch computermagazine that if you tweak the max number of connections that your browser can make it's quite likely that the webserver of the site you're browsing has a lot more work to do. Result? If you do this with a large number of people it might take down the server ! That's the reason why browserprogrammers put a limit on this......
And don't forget that this tweak is also possible in internet explorer, as far as i know even by a GUI.
My reply sounds a bit like "if...if..." but please watch out with this because your tweaks might severely jam the net.

the max request 4 is only default and is meant to be tweaked, and this tweak does not slow down any webserver as millions of people have used this tweak and has no known issues. would you rather ask 4 people for directions and get there or ask 30 people for directions and get there faster?

the tweaks do not cause the net to jam...viruses do, not tweaks. I don't wanna sound rude I don't mean to be, but have you tried it? if not then kindly be quite until you have tried. If all doesn't work then post your expeirence.
