I have about 100 back ups on dvd+r but want to upgrade to better disks. i just was wondering if i could transfer my dvd+r onto a dvd-r using dvd decrypter without any problems or would the disk not transfer. i would prefer to use my backups being that the originals are in storage, and do not care to have to go look through boxes to find them. please let me know if i can use the bak ups to transfer even though they are different format (+/-) would the disk still be readable or what. thanks in advance. my burner will burn both + and -.

Yes, decrypter will work. I personally use DVD Shrink. Since the movies are already decrypted and shrunk, DVD Shrink will re-encode very quickly, then use burner software of choice to put on -R disks

You can use DVD Decrypter in read mode, then write. You should have no problems as long as your backups were done on good media.

You are only reading the data on the disk, the +/- makes no difference to the dvd reader, it only makes a difference to burners/standalones that may not be able to read or write to that particular format.

There should not be a problem as long as you have a dual format burner that can handle both + and - blanks. Since you are going to copy a copy that isn't encrypted, any disc copy program will do the job. Nero, Recordnow Max, even Roxio have a disc copy feature that will work. Copy the +R to your HD and when the program tells you to insert the blank put in the -R blank and burn back.

Since you have DVD Decrypter you can use that, I find it is the easiest way for me to use DVD Decrypter. Just use read/write mode. You can download DVD Shrink and try it that way, it is all in what works for you.

Since you already ripped the DVDs, why even use Decrypter again??? You can just copy the entire VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to your hard drive and burn them to DVD. Or you can just as easily use Nero and copy directly using 'Disk Copy' and save yourself the extra step of ripping again with Decrypter.
BTW, if you're the same guy who is doing the backup of backups just because you originally burned them on CMC discs, read my post about running the PI/PO tests first before wasting your time and money.
