burn DTS wav files to CD or DVD

hello, I have some DTS-wav file and I'd like to burn them on a CD or DVD (better) to play in my home DVD player. Someone says that the rigth thing to do is jus burn as audio CD the DTS-Wav files. Someone else says that they must be converted using the common audio tools in order to produce a DTS or AC3 file and then burn them.
Is there anybody who knows the truth?
My purpose is just to hear DTS audio while I lie on my sofa.
