Slow Speeds On New Internet Connection

I have just changed my 512 adsl broadband connection to a a cable dsl 2 meg service.
The problem is that certain things (torrents) do not download as fast as they should. For example with a 2m service i would expect download speeds of up to 200 kb.
Some items dont go over 10kb. I use Azereus. I think its something to do with my lan connection and its settings.
My settings on my adsl connection were:
Ip address [REMOVED]
external port 6890

sorry forgot to finish:

internal port 6890
TCP
My settings on my current lan network have been set as:
Ip address [REMOVED]
external port 6890
internal port 6890
On Azereus the incoming listening port is set to 6890
What do i need to change?
On one torrent site i get speeds of up to 190 kbs on all the others under 10.
Is it something to do with ports?
Please help

first and foremost edit your post to remove your ip addresses being that these forums can be read by all and could be used to "hack" your system. secondly if you visit auzureus homepage as with all bittorrent clients they will state to change your listening ports. most any torrent client site will tell you they blacklist ports in the 6000 range.

I forgot to mention even though most torrent sites blacklist ports in the 6000 range you will be able to dl but at a much slower rate. as long as you change your ports to any number within a range of 10,000 your speeds will increase depending on the seeds. Also if you're not on a dedicated line (i.e. dsl for example) other isp users in your area on the same bandwidth with take away from your speed even if you are on a 2meg.

Apart from the 6000 range, is there any Listening port you would suggest then?!?

Anything between 7500-10000 is my suggestion.
Also, do you have a router that has a built-in firewall? If so you need to foward the ports on your router.

I do have a router with firewall and have forward the ports....
Inbound 7500
Outbound 9999
For both TCP and UDP
is this ok?

That looks ok, just make sure you have Azureus set to use those as its Inbound and Outbound ports (sorry, I haven't used BT for a while so I forgot how Azureus works)

I have set Azureus incoming TCP Port to 7500 but I do not see an option to limit it upto 9999. But I am a bit of a novice with this.
But thanks for the help, hopefully my download rate will increase. lol

If you're using Comcast as ur ISP u cant use the regular high speed ports (6881-6889) because they make them slower to discourage you from using bittorrent so go for something from 10,000-20,000 range

Harman also may I suggest the latest version of abc bittorrent client is good simple due to the fact you can select your preferences. As with any application which has multiple software serving the same purpose you have to experiment. Lastly one thing I have found is that some torrent clients for strange reasons work better pending location. Your listening ports are fine now that they are not in the blacklisted range. Get peerguardian2 for your operating system..its keeps the RIAA and MPAA out of your business to a certain degree.

Ive tried researching the problem. Here are the facts:
I have a 2meg Blueyonder DSL Connection using Motorola Surfboard Modem.
I am using Windows XP Firewall. I have Bit Torrent COnfigured under port 6890 incoming and outcoming tcp.
I am using Azereus.
The downloads are pretty slow and unsteady on most sites apart from one site where there are many seeds and i get speeds up to 240kbs.
I used to get a decent speed on my old 512 service before, better than my 2 meg service.
What can I DO To Make This Quicker As Its Driving Me MAD!!!
