I've used faster memory than the mother board was rated for and it just ran at the speed that the board supported. I guess you'll find out what it does when you get it.

On one of my computers i've been using 400Mhz (PC-3200) when the mother board only supports 266Mhz (PC-2100) it's been running fine, i've left it running for close to 90 days non-stop without problems..But technically you should match your ram to what your motherboard supports, it's just technically better that way theres no risk of straining either the ram or your motherboard, I'd just make sure you get decent ram..samsung infineon corsair..you shouldn't have any problems.. Hope i helped.

Edit: yes, your motherboard will run the ram slower to comply with it's specifications.
